The stories behind
the numbers
Join Financial Innovation and Resilience (FIRE) practitioner Lucía Carrasco to explore the untold stories of finance leaders working for social justice around the world.
Behind the audits, the spreadsheets, donor relationships and financial management, these leaders are rethinking what organizational resilience really means. Each episode, we sit down with them to hear what they’re actually trying—building capital reserves, rebounding from catastrophic funding losses, scaling sustainably, and everything in between.
Whether you're leading an organization, balancing a budget, or brand new to the team, you'll find the perspective you need to resource and steward the change you're working toward. We'll laugh through the learning moments and leave the loneliness of doing this alone behind.
Plus, we broadcast in English, French, Portuguese, and Spanish—because game-changing ideas should reach as many people as possible.
In this episode, we unpack the vital role governance plays in building resilient, mission-driven organizations. Why do NGOs need a board? What does good governance actually look like in practice? And why do funders increasingly see strong governance as a key indicator of financial health and organizational credibility?
We sit down with Adriana Moura, Finance Manager at Brazil's Institute for Climate and Society, to explore emerging governance trends, discuss how to respond when funders question your governance structures, and share practical strategies for strengthening your organization from the inside out. From building a diverse, agile board to creating meaningful communication rituals that keep board members engaged, this conversation is packed with actionable insights for nonprofit leaders, board members, and anyone committed to building a sustainable organization.
Whether you're reviewing your governance model or preparing for your next funding opportunity, this episode offers practical guidance to help your organization thrive.
