“Spring’s leadership program takes a much more holistic approach to ‘technical assistance’, seeing that thriving organizations are not just about output, but about culture as well. Burnout and turnover in nonprofits is a huge problem, and giving leaders the tools that they need to lead more effectively is hugely beneficial.”

Through a combination of workshops and coaching, individuals and teams are using these peer-based programs to explore cross-cutting leadership themes affecting human rights and climate justice movements today — themes like cultivating emotional resilience, navigating conflict and tension, and building healthy cultures

What participants say

We had great sessions on how to navigate my emotions and burnout. I have been able to utilize the skills acquired to reflect on the source of mental burnout, but also create balance through the use of meditational breathing, prioritization, and delegation of work. I think this has made me a better leader. I've learnt how to improve my communication with staff and set boundaries.

I have started to notice the change in the team's dynamic since applying the lessons on organizational growth as well as on conflict and tension. It has improved the teamwork of the program I am in charge of.

I was able to contribute several strategies focusing on wellness and work-life balance to enhance my organisation's policies and practices in these areas. The practical experiences shared by my colleagues were invaluable and provided additional insights into effective approaches.

The peer support and the sense of solidarity around the demands of a leadership role were so valuable.

Especially since several of my colleagues were also in the global sessions, we’ve really begun to apply some of the concepts, particularly as we enter strategic planning. In particular, as we become more organizationally sophisticated, we’ve had long conversations about organizational and decision-making models.

I was surprised by how fast I progressed from being scared to being able to step into my leadership more fully, owning and even enjoying the more challenging aspects of it.
