Amsterdam 2018 High Impact Facilitation Intensive Case Study

Amsterdam 2018 High Impact Facilitation Intensive Case Study

Amsterdam, Netherlands
November 12-14, 2018

Facilitators:

Participants: The people attending this Intensive were experienced facilitators working predominantly in the areas of social and climate justice. This included senior staff from different organizations, independent consultants, coaches and activists.

Overall, 21 participants attended the Intensive from 13 different countries: Argentina, Belgium, Canada, Columbia, Costa Rica, Finland, India, Indonesia, Latvia, Mexico, Netherlands, United States, Zimbabwe.

High Impact Facilitation: At Spring Strategies we believe that meetings should inspire, tap into the collective intelligence of a group, reshape how a problem is perceived, influence perspectives on how to affect change and uncover new ways of joining forces. High impact meetings generate new levels of strategic alignment, engagement and collective action. And we need more of those meetings; the future depends on it.

The Purpose of the High Impact Facilitation Intensive is to provide participants with a program to develop advanced-level competencies in facilitation for collective action and impact.

...

The 2018 Amsterdam High Impact Facilitation Intensive included a 3-day in-person workshop, post-Intensive accompaniment in the form of coaching sessions, peer support and learning, and a final 2-hour group discussion. This Case Study explores the results of the 3-day in-person workshop.

"We need to make sure people move through a process at their own pace. Everyone has a different contribution to make. That is how they can explore together and trust is built."

- Maria De Vargas,
Amsterdam 2018 Facilitation Graduate

"I learned that if there's a pause or people feel stuck during the facilitation, I don't have to solve it, it's ok to have space and eventually other people will step in and drive it forward."

Michelle Medeiros
Amsterdam 2018 Facilitation Graduate

Participant Quotes

This training will help the human rights movement to respond effectively to 21st century challenges and contribute to a more inclusive and queer society.

An inspiring and mind-opening three days. Leaving with new ideas, a wonderful community of peers, and a wish that I could do it all again next year!

This is not just a skills workshop. You will learn about yourself, your natural strengths, and how to use those in service of the movements you support as a facilitator.

Until I attended this workshop, I had not appreciated that facilitation in itself is a body of knowledge that holds huge potential to create social change and transformation.”
