Program overview
On Day 1, you’ll learn about the essentials of collaboration and the ways in which people analyze and prioritize information. You'll also spend time practicing holding space for multiple stories and perspectives and the key facilitative skill of reflecting back to the collective of what was individually offered.
On Day 2, you'll learn about some of the moves to stay connected with a group, focus on what matters most, meet people where they are, check in along the way, get input, support the group through transitions and decisions, and make spaces braver. We’ll explore how to manage polarities, work with strong emotions and apply storytelling techniques to build trust.
On Day 3, you'll put it all together and work with a small team of participants to workshop a plan for you to re-up your facilitation practice moving forward, identify the facilitation moves that you want to try out in your next meetings and design gathering spaces that encourage creative collaboration.
After the 3-day course, we will schedule mentoring sessions and three 90-minute group meetings for you to observe yourself and reflect on how you are developing as a facilitator (February 23, March 2nd, and March 9th at 9:00 AM EST. This follow-up phase is where you will actually integrate your learnings, try new moves, dive deeper into themes of interest, and gain support to increase your confidence as a facilitator and take a leap forward.
Throughout the program and during the 3-month period afterward, you’ll have access to all program tools and multimedia resources via Spring’s Leadership Lab to bolster your learning journey.
By the end of the program, you will have gained:
- a new awareness about your facilitation patterns, strengths and areas to work on;
- an understanding of collective storytelling as a strategy for holding multiple perspectives in ways that can reclaim and rehumanize collaborative work;
- the ability to work with tension and complexity in generative ways;
- confidence using tools designed for virtual, in-person and hybrid workspaces;
- a digital portfolio of resources, tools and practices you can experiment, adapt and apply to your unique context and work.
